Every now and then, you get connected with strangers around the world who then seem like best friends even though you have never met them. That is the power of the internet and I am convinced that the internet is a force for good, and will one day be instrumental in bringing about more harmony and peace in the world.
As we all wake up to our own power to assert our inherent goodness, we shall build up a crescendo of goodwill that will change the world for the better forever.
What will help us achieve this well overdue “Nirvana” are the many amazing and well-meaning people around the world who are striving to make a difference to others in their own small or big way.
Two such people are my new virtual friends Jim and Emma. They have just launched their new website at Go Smell the Flowers! I have never met them face to face but it seems like I have known them a long time. I guess it is because we share a few things in common – the love of flowers, pretting pictures and writing :-)
Through their website, you can literally send flowers to anyone in the world. So far, this inspirational couple have been the cause of spreading happiness through flowers in Spain, South Africa, U.S.A, U.A.E, U.K, France, Canada, Russia, China and Australia.
Their vision for their flower delivery crusade is to reach someone in every country throughout the world. And best of all, 50% of all flower and book sales (NOT profits!) will go to a foundation they are setting up.
This foundation will then look at a variety of good causes around the world and give a helping hand where it is needed.
Jim and Emma’s policy is that there will be no set charity to benefit from their foundation. They will decide on a case by case basis to ensure that all the collected cash goes straight to the cause and is not lost in a black hole of administrative costs.
Talk about reaching out and making a difference!
To me this is truly inspiring and shows how the simplest ideas applied well can bring so much happiness and joy at so little cost.
Also, their service is going to certain to take off as we all have so many flower-giving events coming up. Having just had Valentine’s day, it’s Mother’s Day soon in the U.K (18th March) and the USA (13th May).
There is so much we can learn from the example set by Jim and Emma:-
How can you create a simple project that will impact and bring joy to others?
What is your vision for your life?
What will YOUR foundation do to help others?
And most importantly, where will you go today to smell a flower?!
