Gandhi’s legacy for generations to come - Einstein

Gandhi

Last week, I was lucky enough to have my mother come and stay with me on her own for the first time in many years. We bonded once again and one evening we watched the movie “Gandhi”.

Time to Smile!

smile and the world will smile with you!

What a wonderful picture!

I bet it brought a smile to your face :-)

I have featured it here for that very reason - we all need to smile much more. And what better way to get us all smiling than a funny and genuinely warm picture from the animal world?

Turn the World Green in the Blink of an Eye!

overgrown garden of Eden

We are all increasingly become more aware of our responsibility to the environment and the need to save our planet.

Being “Green” may just be in vogue for now, or indeed we may have all embraced this positive change for good.

If you are not able to attend my annual “Friends and Friend’s Friends Picnic” on Sunday 19th August in Regents Park, London, then how about organising your own?

Time for “Friends and Friend’s Friends Picnic” 2007 :-)

drumming at picnic 2004 in Regents Park

Everyone one of us has many gifts for the world. And one of mine has always been the ability to get people together. A few years ago, I decided to get all my friends, contacts and acquaintances together in one place for a picnic.

I called it the “Friends and Friend’s Friends Picnic”, held every August. It is now time once again for this annual gathering in Regents Park.

Please help SAVE Regents Park for our future generations

help save our precious nature

One of my recurring themes lately is that there comes a time for all of us to take a stand and push for what you believe in. It was this mind set that allowed me to recently launch my car stickers to encourage drivers to refrain from using their mobile phones whilst driving.

For me, it was time to take a stand and get drivers to zap their phone and not a child.

It is a crime to go around with a miserable face!

the joy of children

In one of my articles last week, I talked about joy and spreading it. This reminded me of someone I met a year ago.

Every now and then, I come across someone who truly inspires me through their work, their words and most importantly their way of being.

Comedy show marriage proposal - Love is all that matters!

love is all that matters

On Sunday evening I went to the Open Air Theatre in Regents Park to watch their annual comedy show. This event featured players from the famed Comedy Store.

I have managed to watch this show every year for the last few years and is a highlight of my social calendar.

But this year was even more special, as just before the interval, the MC announced a very special request. Alex Sperling had requested permission to propose to his girlfriend, Mel, during the show and it had all been pre-arranged to happen just after the first half of the show.

Let us all bring more compassion into our lives

compassion for one and all

A few days ago I pleaded everyone to bring more compassion into the world

As we seem to face increasing turmoil and tension in the world, my plea was about just how can we learn from the events of the last few years to bring more compassion into the world?

A few weeks ago I attended a workshop about compassion at the Brahma Kumaris World Spiritual University. It was quite an inspirational afternoon, and certainly left all of us feeling more compassionate towards ourselves and each other.

Approach love and cooking with reckless abandon!

hearty ice cream!

A couple of days ago I wrote about cooking with love.

Love and food are so intertwined. Maybe one can’t even have one without the other. To love someone is also to want the best of everything for them - and that includes the best food and nutrition. So how would you go about cooking for the love of your life? And how indeed do you LOVE that special person?!

Time to take a stand - “Zap your phone, not a child”

zap your phone, not a child

A while ago I urged people to zap their phone, not a child.

In the UK, it has now been illegal to use your mobile handset whilst driving since December 2003, but I still see so many drivers every day not heeding the law.

The Art of Cooking and Eating with Gratitude :-)

Love your food!

They say that we get messages for our life from all sorts of places if only we are open to receiving them.

It is all about the law of attraction principle - you get back what you put out. You attract what you focus on…

Yesterday in my local garden centre which has also has an excellent organic foodstore and cookery shop, I saw a book that just jumped out at me.

Time to let your light shine :-)

let your light shine!

Last week I was privileged and honoured to be at a talk by Marianne Williamson, author of “A Return to Love” (Amazon UK / Amazon USA) and famed for having written the words Our Light , often incorrectly attributed to Nelson Mandela. She spoke passionately about her hopes for a better world and finding our higher purpose.

You have to eat an elephant bite by bite!

elephant bus!

Like a lot of people around the world today at 11.11 GMT, I sat quietly and meditated as part of the worldwide Fire the Grid project.

The idea was to bring about worldwide positive change through the consciousness of like minded people meditating and reflecting for an hour at that time.

Time to pick more daisies!

pick a daisy and smile!

Yesterday I wrote how it was time to rest, sow and reap.

It is funny how things always work out well. After I finished in the garden, later in the day, the heavens opened up and my newly planted seeds got an ample and much needed boost of heavenly water. That saved me having to water them all this morning. So everything always, always works out for the best.

Time to rest, sow and reap

overgrown garden of Eden

It is funny how quickly time has been going. It seems only yesterday that I decided to create an organic garden on my doorstep.

Yet almost three months have gone by since I started on the project in my back garden. It seems as if it has been raining incessantly ever since then. Also, other things happened in my life which meant I ended up taking a lot of time out.

A Prayer for an end to Violence

peace in my time

In my last post, I wrote about hope from the heartbreak of 7/7 after the London train and bombs on 7th July 2005.

Today I was sent an email about a memorial service held for the 52 victims of those bombs in London. The victims were remembered by their familes and friends at a private gathering held on 7/7/7 at St Ethelburga’s Church in the City of London.

Hope from the Heartbreak of 7/7

peace in regents park on 7/7 2006

It is already 2 years today since the bombings in London on 7th July 2005. The picture above shows the peace flower created on the first anniversary of 7/7 last year in Regents Park.

As we today remember those killed and injured on that fateful day, it is heart breaking to know that the same thing could have happened only last week in London and Glasgow airport.

So where do we go from here? On 7/7 two years ago, I wrote and sent out my regular newsletter - and I feel that my message is as relevant today as it was then. Here is what wrote then in full:-
