Telling the Banks what to Do!
To end this week and this month on a light hearted note, here is a wonderful story about how a 98 year old woman told her bank what she thought of their service. The bank manager thought it amusing enough to have it published in the Times Newspaper.
As more and more companies become aware of Corporate Social Responsbility (CSR), this story serves as reminder to companies that their customer is their most important asset and not someone to be simply pushed around:-
Follow your Dream
Many years ago a friend sent me a card with a wonderful poem which I still treasure to this day. It is posted on the office wall next to my computer and serves everyday to remind me to follow my dream:-
Everyone’s a Winner…
Here is a story that has been doing the rounds of the internet and email for many years. Though I am not sure whether this is exactly what really happened or if at all, it does have a wonderful message for all of us.
It reminds me of the old adage that you can get everything you want in your life, by helping others get what they want. So take what you can from this story, regardless of whether it is fact or fiction:-
Happiness is a Voyage…
In the last few weeks, I have been deeply reflecting about my own life and what it all means to me. This period of deeper retrospection has come about partly due to the passing away of a close friend.
It has made me realize once again just how futile our daily strivings can be and also how petty our grievances really are. It is not to say that one should not have any goals nor allow others to simply push us around, but it is about getting a better perspective on what really matters in our lives.
How to be Popular!
I recently wrote about how the human touch was so vital in networking.
On a related theme, a while ago I was interviewed for a magazine article about how to be popular. Here are my tips on how to do just that:-
The day Diana died
Incredibly it is ten years today since the death of Lady Diana and Dodi Fayed in a car accident in Paris. And yet it seems like it all happened only yesterday.
Everyone remembers just where they were and what they were doing when they first heard the news. Just where were you when you heard the news?!
Lessons of Life … and Death.
In the last two weeks, I have attended three memorial services - one for a dear friend, one for a friend’s father, and one for a friend’s grandmother.
These have been poignant, moving and timely reminders of the sanctity, sacredness and also fragility of our lives. As one of the people delivering a brief eulogy stated, let us not mourn the passing of a dear one, but instead let us celebrate their life.
Forever Friends
Later on this afternoon I will be saying a few words at the memorial service for a dear friend who passed away a few weeks ago.
Just how do you acknowledge 20 years of friendship in 3 minutes?!
Networking - Why the Human Touch is still Key
Are you increasingly socialising and networking with other people online?!
With the advent of social networking website such as Facebook and MySpace, people are spending more and more people time communicating with each other online.
We are all now so interconnected and with the advent of email and the internet, we are only a few keystrokes away from anyone else in the world.
Find your Life Purpose :-)
We are now well into 2007 and how is your life shaping up?
Are you floating like a butterfly or roaring like a tiger?!
It may seem a long time since you made your New Year resolutions but how are you doing with them? Is your life what you always dreamed it would be like and if not, are you now ready and willing to build one?
India rises, but at what cost?!
India today celebrates 60 years since independence from Britain.
As over a billion people celebrate in India, and many millions in all corners of the world, there is no doubt that the country has come a long way in the last few years alone.
Time for Companies like Mattel to Stop Toying around
It has just been announced that the world’s leading toymaker, US based Mattel has recalled millions of toys worldwide for the second time in two weeks.
It all comes down to the amount of lead in the paint used on these toys, which were made in China. In turn, the Chinese supplier has been blamed for using paint from unauthorised suppliers.
Some Pearls of Wisdom from Kavit Haria
Every now and then I come across someone in my life who impresses me enormously and who has a lot to offer to me and others. My friend Kavit Haria is one such person.
I recently took some time out to interview him for my blog as part of my inspirational interviews. And this is what transpired:-
Seven Principles of Radiant Living :-)
A while ago, a friend shared with me these wonderful “Seven Principles for Radiant Living” from a book by Jason Chan with the same title:-
Get over It, Girl!
I recently wrote about how it was time to let your light shine.
During that talk by Marianne Williamson in central London, she spoke with a lot of humour and compassion about supporting the people around us.
Supporting the people in our lives is all about empowering them, helping them to connect with their highest self and encouraging them to be the best they can.
Avoid the crooked trolley on your life journey!
On one of my recent shopping trips to my local supermarket, I somehow managed to pick up a crooked trolley from the row outside.
The trolley had a mind of its own and kept going at almost ninety degrees from the direction I was pointing it at. As I found out soon enough, one of the wheels was misaligned.
Be human and allow yourself to be vulnerable…
My friends Jim and Emma Wheat at Go Smell the Flowers posed an interesting question on their blog today:-
How do you react when you see someone in a wheelchair? A quick shift of the eyes away from theirs or do you acknowledge them?
Living with Acceptance and Friendship…

It is another gloriously sunny morning in London
As I planned my day, I flicked through my oldest journal and came across a poem by Amanda Cater, called “If a Child” :-
