“Achieving the Impossible” - Lewis Gordon Pugh Part 1

It is very rare that you meet a person touched by greatness.

Yesterday evening, I was lucky to be at a talk given by such a person. Even better, somehow I had a front row seat, so a friend and I were just a couple of meters from the stage.

If you have not yet heard of Lewis Gordon Pugh (where have you been?!), then make a note of that name – you are going to hear a lot more of him over the coming months and years.

Change The Dream…take the Pachamma Alliance pledge

soon the rainforests may just be a dream

At the recent Be the Change conference, there was some discussion about “changing the dream”. You can now even attend symposiums which tell you much more about how we as individuals can change the dream we are currently living, thereby avoiding the nightmare that we are all headed towards.

Plant Trees and Goodness Today to reap the Fruits Tomorrow :-)

sow some seedlings today for such trees tomorrow

I wrote recently about saving the copper beech tree in my garden.

I also wrote about about Sadhguru’s inspirational project to plant 114 million trees. As Sadhguru says:-

“Trees are our closest relationship. What they exhale, we inhale. What we exhale, they inhale. This is a constant relationship that nobody can afford to break or live without”

Thanks Giving Article 4 – Serve others

time to serve others

The 4th and final article in my series on thanks giving is all about serving others

We all have deep within us this calling and a capacity to help others, to make a difference in some way and to make ourselves count.

I always had this urge even when as a child but the urge got submerged as I got on to the treadmill of life. But in recent years, I have got involved with Nirvana School and other charities directly and indirectly.

We are now in the middle of autumn (fall) here in London and amidst the wind and rain, the colours of the trees are stunning.

How NOT to lose Trust!

what is trust?

Trust amongst human beings is fundamental to a good relationship. In a great relationship, we must have love, caring, understanding and of course trust.

What exactly is this quality of trust? To me it is about having faith in someone’e ability to retain integrity and behave in the best possible manner as appropriate to the situation. It is about being able to rely on someone 100% and knowing that they will deliver.

Time to Eat Healthy and Get Healthy!

supermarkets are sometimes junk food markets!

I went food shopping in my local Tesco store and as it was just after school leaving time, there were a few children also in the store.

I couldn’t help noticing what they were all buying and it was interesting to see how few of them were buying any foodstuffs that would be considered “healthy”. They were buying a range of sweets (candy), chocolate, fizzy drinks and salty snacks such as crisps.

Just What is Your Purpose?

Facebook and other social networking groups are the buzz at the moment. But am I the only one who feels a bit overwhelmed and a little bored with such websites?!

I much prefer the face to face interaction but every now and then I get connected to someone inspirational and who is making things happen for themselves and the world.

Hope for Peace, Asha for Peace :-)

Isn’t it funny how the most casual of connections can lead to something major, and possibly life changing?!

About 6 months ago, at a fashion event, I met someone called Asha (which literally means hope).

Well, we became friends and today I am proud and honoured to announce a new peace song just launched for Christmas by Asha called “Asha for Peace”.

Words of Wisdom from an Evening with the Dalai Lama

smile if you are joyous!

OK - I didn’t really spend any evening with the Dalai Lama in person.

But I had the next best thing - a showing of a movie called Dalai Lama Renaisssance“, a documentary which is set to spread his inspirational message around the world next year, when it goes on general release.

It was a very special evening as I just happened to be sitting next to the producer, Khashyar Darvich.
It was quite an inspirational evening and depsite the darkness I managed to scribble down some key messages and quotes to make things happen in our daily life:

“Words are mere bubbles of water, but deeds are drops of gold” - Chinese proverb

“You yourself must make the effort, the buddhas are only the teachers” - Buddhist saying

“Open your heart and conquer the “Tibets” within in” - quote from person interviewed

“What trains are going past YOU right now” - in reference to those people who say they would have never turned a blind eye to the trainloads of Jews sent off to the gas chambers.

“Humanity has to come first, my nation, my people, my cast, all come second” - Dalai Lama

“By being more compassionate to others, we become happier ourselves!” - Dalai Lama

Do go and see the movie as soon as it is released. It could transform your outlook on life forever.

Time to light up your life!

Last weekend, I celebrated Diwali with my family and some friends. It is always a special time, though like at Christmas it can have its challenges too.

“Diwali” means the festival of lights and it is a time of rejoicing. It is the holy hindu tradition that symbolises the victory of light over darkness and also traditionally marks the beginning of the New Year.
