Hope from the Heartbreak of 7/7
It is already 2 years today since the bombings in London on 7th July 2005. The picture above shows the peace flower created on the first anniversary of 7/7 last year in Regents Park.
As we today remember those killed and injured on that fateful day, it is heart breaking to know that the same thing could have happened only last week in London and Glasgow airport.
So where do we go from here? On 7/7 two years ago, I wrote and sent out my regular newsletter - and I feel that my message is as relevant today as it was then. Here is what wrote then in full:-
No comments“Show more compassion” - my last ever blog message
It is 30th June, and we are at the half way point in the year.
How quickly this year has flown by! Having recently suffered the sad loss of a friend, I am reminded more than ever before of the futility and fragility of our lives.
No commentsWorking from home more and more is the future
I was recently interviewed by a radio show about working from home, which has always been seen as a luxury for a few lucky and high profile people. But now more and people are looking at flexible working as an exciting prospect.
The question though is whether working from home equals higher productivity. Just what would it be like to say leave the buzz of going to the office and having the social life with colleagues and working from the comfort of your own home?
3 commentsConsumer power is here to stay - have your say

A few weeks ago I wrote about Masterfoods were planning to introduce an animal product in its range of chocolates including Mars Bar.
This sneaky plan by Masterfoods caused quite a stir with the company receiving over 6,000 calls and emails and 40 MPs even signing a petition. The Vegetarian Society urged members to complain to the company, their MP or local newspaper.
No commentsA Mars bar a day kills a calf or two!

Okay - that is quite an emotive headline, but how else can I hit home the fact that one of the world’s leading confectionary companies has just tried to quietly sneak through a major ingredient change in one of the UK’s most popular chocolates?!
From this month, chocolate manufacturer Masterfoods which makes Mars bars has started using rennet - an enzyme taken from the stomachs of newborn calves - to make whey for its products.
1 commentHelp SAVE Regents Park!
I have often written about Regents Park in central London and how it provides me and so many other people with so much pleasure all years around.
But now can you believe that there are advanced proposals to devastate centuries old woodland to make way for some astroturf football pitches and a bar?!
2 commentsStop alcoholism at a young age
There have been calls today to stop parents from giving alcohol to children under the age of 15. To me this was quite a surprise as coming from a tee-total family, alcohol was rarely ever served in our home.
A new study reveals figures that suggest a large increase in the amount of alcohol being drunk by 11 to 13-year-olds.
No commentsHow to have your Easter chocolate bunny & eat it too
As most of the developed world gets ready for the Easter break, spare a thought for those to whom today is just another day in a struggle for survival and progress. For a lot of children, an Easter chocolate bunny is only a fantasy.
No commentsHow Socially Responsible are Tobacco companies?

Today more and more companies are getting into Corporate Social Responsibility.
However, I always wonder just how many of them are truly serious about making their operations socially responsible.
One such group of companies are the tobacco companies. How can a corporate company even claim to be socially responsible if all its activities are around creating a product that is known to cause serious illnesses and ultimately kill?!
No commentsHow do you and your company communicate with the world?
This morning I searched around on the internet for some possible suppliers for one of my new projects (more details soon).
I typed in my search criteria in Google as one does and chose to call the first three companies that caught my eye and who also seemed to offer what I wanted. I discarded a couple as they were clearly USA orientated. Here is what happened with the three companies I called:-
