All you Need is a Potato :-)
Food is one of my favourite topics and recently I came across a great metaphor linking the humble potato with some ideas for life.
My friend, Servane Mouazan, a social innovator who runs Social Leadership courses for women groups and other entrepreneurs gave me one of her leaflets which says all you need to succeed is to be like a potato!
Like a potato you want to:-
Food, glorious Food for Spring Time!
Food is one of my favourite topics. And what better time than spring time to try out new recipes and new experiences?!
As I write this from my home office in London, it is a typical British spring day - beautifully rainy, blustery and cold!
Regardless of that, spring is certainly in the air and I can feel the freshness of new ideas, people and events coming into my life. How about you?
The ideal Food Feast for a Spring Morning!
It is a beautiful spring morning here in London and I have just had a leisurely (i.e. lazy!) breakfast.
Health and nutrition are very important to me and as much as I can I do take optimal self-care. This morning I feasted on freshly made bean sprouts.
A while ago I outlined my method for making your own bean sprouts.
Having just made the bean sprouts overnight, I am always amazed at this little miracle in my own home. It is fascinating how in just one day and night, the beans have sprouted inch long “tails”. A reminder yet again of the universal mind all around us that just makes things happen.
Plant Trees and Goodness Today to reap the Fruits Tomorrow :-)
I wrote recently about saving the copper beech tree in my garden.
I also wrote about about Sadhguru’s inspirational project to plant 114 million trees. As Sadhguru says:-
“Trees are our closest relationship. What they exhale, we inhale. What we exhale, they inhale. This is a constant relationship that nobody can afford to break or live without”
Time to Eat Healthy and Get Healthy!
I went food shopping in my local Tesco store and as it was just after school leaving time, there were a few children also in the store.
I couldn’t help noticing what they were all buying and it was interesting to see how few of them were buying any foodstuffs that would be considered “healthy”. They were buying a range of sweets (candy), chocolate, fizzy drinks and salty snacks such as crisps.
Krispy Kreme Doughnut Sales Dipping - a Sign of Things to Come?
Krispy Kreme doughnuts can be seen in many UK high streets and also sold in UK supermarkets. But as people wake up to just what’s good and what’s not good for their bodies, it is debateable just how well such food products will do in the future.
So right on cue I have just learnt that Krispy Kreme are having serious problems in the USA and UK..
Detox your Body to Get the Life you Love
It is another glorious sunny day in London as I write this.
September seems to be the new August as far as sunshine in the UK is concerned. I look forward to many more summer days like this before autumn sets in with its beautiful colours and refreshing winds.
There is definitely freshness and new energy around as I begin my week back on “normal” food, having been on a detox fast since last Monday.
An Apple a Day Keeps the Doctor away?
Today has been the second day of my apple fast - and so far so good.
Amazingly havingly had no whole food for 48 hours, I have more energy and focus than I have had for a long time.
Time to Detox and Start Fresh
I recently attended a seminar on healthy eating by my friend Peter Pure.
Yes, that is his real name
Peter’s teachings have prompted me to finally go on a long awaited detoxing programme. So for the rest of this week, I will be thriving on fresh apple juice only.
Avoid the crooked trolley on your life journey!
On one of my recent shopping trips to my local supermarket, I somehow managed to pick up a crooked trolley from the row outside.
The trolley had a mind of its own and kept going at almost ninety degrees from the direction I was pointing it at. As I found out soon enough, one of the wheels was misaligned.
Hold your own Friend’s Picnic anywhere in the World :-)

If you are not able to attend my annual “Friends and Friend’s Friends Picnic” on Sunday 19th August in Regents Park, London, then how about organising your own?
No matter where you are in the world, it will be a great way to bring together friends, old and new.
Approach love and cooking with reckless abandon!
A couple of days ago I wrote about cooking with love.
Love and food are so intertwined. Maybe one can’t even have one without the other. To love someone is also to want the best of everything for them - and that includes the best food and nutrition. So how would you go about cooking for the love of your life? And how indeed do you LOVE that special person?!
The Art of Cooking and Eating with Gratitude :-)
They say that we get messages for our life from all sorts of places if only we are open to receiving them.
It is all about the law of attraction principle - you get back what you put out. You attract what you focus on…
Yesterday in my local garden centre which has also has an excellent organic foodstore and cookery shop, I saw a book that just jumped out at me.
Time to rest, sow and reap
It is funny how quickly time has been going. It seems only yesterday that I decided to create an organic garden on my doorstep.
Yet almost three months have gone by since I started on the project in my back garden. It seems as if it has been raining incessantly ever since then. Also, other things happened in my life which meant I ended up taking a lot of time out.
Ice Cream Heaven!
One of the keys to having a great life is to create more special moments in our life.
It is through joy that we raise our vibrations, energy and ability to attract more goodness.
Consumer power is here to stay - have your say

A few weeks ago I wrote about Masterfoods were planning to introduce an animal product in its range of chocolates including Mars Bar.
This sneaky plan by Masterfoods caused quite a stir with the company receiving over 6,000 calls and emails and 40 MPs even signing a petition. The Vegetarian Society urged members to complain to the company, their MP or local newspaper.
Food for the Body & Soul and “Fit Enough for the Gods.”
Food is what sustains us all but why not also delight all your senses at the same time!? Anything you eat should be good for the body & soul and fit enough for the gods.
This week I am honoured to be hosting the Carnival of the Recipes and what a wonderful set of divine and mouthwatering recipes are coming your way
A Mars bar a day kills a calf or two!

Okay - that is quite an emotive headline, but how else can I hit home the fact that one of the world’s leading confectionary companies has just tried to quietly sneak through a major ingredient change in one of the UK’s most popular chocolates?!
From this month, chocolate manufacturer Masterfoods which makes Mars bars has started using rennet - an enzyme taken from the stomachs of newborn calves - to make whey for its products.
Stop alcoholism at a young age
There have been calls today to stop parents from giving alcohol to children under the age of 15. To me this was quite a surprise as coming from a tee-total family, alcohol was rarely ever served in our home.
A new study reveals figures that suggest a large increase in the amount of alcohol being drunk by 11 to 13-year-olds.
Organic vegetables on my doorstep!
Yesterday afternoon after watching the London marathon, I decided to use all that positive energy and finally get down to creating my own organic garden.
We have a beautiful and very spacious landscaped garden. However there is a patch at the back of the landscaped garden that has been neglected for years and has been overgrown.
