food, glorious food!

One of my favourite topics is FOOD :-).

Nothing beats a nutritious home made meal, prepared from fresh ingredients. However the most important ingredient with any dish is the thoughts you have as you prepare it.

It is also important to serve the food with love and to create a pleasant atmosphere as you eat. You are after all serving your body which is a temple. Everything you put into your body is what will ultimately sustain, nourish and enrichen you.

I have learnt a lot about preparation, cooking and serving food from the Brahma Kumaris World Spiritual University.

Last Sunday, I was lucky enough to have attended their family cooking day, where various families demonstrated their methods of easily cooking the most delicious vegetarian dishes in a fun and easy way.

Two brothers shared their secret for preparing Amenana, an ancient high energy food from the South Pacific:-

Ingredients

¼ cup butter / margarine
¼ cup clear honey
½ cup medium oatmeal
½ cup chopped / ready to eat apricots
1 tbsp dried banana chips
1 tbsp dried coconut
2 – 3 cups cornflakes or puffed rice cereal


Directions

• Centre self in a calm, peaceful state
• Butter and honey melted on a low heat
• Remove from heat, add oatmeal, apricots, banana chips, coconut and cornflakes, mix
• Spoon mixture into cake cases
• Chill for 20 minutes
• Serve with love
