  • Where my story started…

Have you ever wondered how you could make the world a better place? How you can somehow make a difference to the people around you and at the same time have a fabulous life yourself?

I have been asking myself this question all of my life and a while ago reached the conclusion that it was up to me and all of us to make it happen.

From the time I used to give away my pencils to poor African children at school during my childhood days in Kenya to the days when I spent many weeks helping out at a charity school in South India, I felt called to do something for others. Call it destiny or fate, it seemed I was born to contribute and make a difference to others.

However, I now know that ALL of us have this same desire and calling to leave the world a better way in some way. At the same time, we all wish to grow in our lives and make the most of our time here.

My intention is to help you do just that – make the most of your lives and at the same time make a profound difference in the world. All of us have this deep down desire to leave a lasting legacy for the generations to come and if I can help at least one person live a better, more meaningful life, then I will have succeeded with my mission for this blog.

A few years ago, I visited Nirvana School in South India and that’s when things changed for me.

Please find out how experiencing unconditional love for the first time changed my life forever.

You can also immerse yourself in the world of Nirvana School via this video:-

This personal blog is my journal of ideas to empower others to also make things happen. My ultimate aim is for all of us to lead happy, fulfilling lives whilst we all do the best we can without harming those around us and the environment.

At the same time, I believe that by being the best we can, we fulfil our destiny on earth and also leave the world a better place.

Surely that is not much to ask for?!

    Who am I?

    My name is Arvind Devalia.

•I am a writer, blogger, life coach and social entrepreneur living in a leafy part of central London. This has been my home now for over 20 years but I was born in Kenya. Though my heritage is Indian. I consider myself a citizen of the world.

•I am passionate about people and making a difference to others whilst of course at the same time having a great life myself. I am committed to a life of contribution, connection and celebration. And I am convinced that ultimately we all want to do the same.

•Whereas others might hesitate, I make things happen– such as raising thousands of dollars for a charity school in South India (Nirvana School), writing and publishing a book in just 4 weeks and getting 100s of people in a London park for a picnic to bring people together

•In the world of business, during the dot com boom, I was part of an internet startup which raised millions of pounds of funding and at one time we were all internet paper millionaires.

•I recently took part in the London Marathon. An injury curtailed my training and rather than pulling out and letting down the charity I was running for, I walked the entire route. It took 7 hours and 25 minutes but was a truly inspirational day.

    • I have had a varied professional career having started off as a telecommunications engineer with Shell, BP and NatWest Bank. I have also spent a few years marketing ethnic food and that’s where my passion for healthy eating and good food started!

    • I have an amazing group of incredible people in my life and I am proud to be called their friend. I am always honoured and delighted to bring people together and over the years I have got a reputation as “Mr Connector”

    • I have been actively involved with Nirvana School, an amazing charity school in South India for the last 10 years and it has been a truly humbling yet inspirational experience. This experience has taught me to be bigger than myself and appreciate what I already have.

    • I am the author of “Get the Life you Love and Live it” – http://www.GettheLifeyouLove.com and “Personal Social Responsibility” http://www.PersonalSocialResponsibility.com

I believe that we all deserve to lead healthy, wealthy and joyous lives – it is now time to make it happen for more of us!

    What I believe in

    1. We can all have abundant, peaceful and happy lives.

    2. We are here to make the most of what we have and leave the world a better place than we found it. This includes creating financial abundance for us, living healthy lives and having loving relationships.

    3. Everyone has a right to live with dignity and respect.

    4. There is no limit to our ingenuity in improving the lives of our fellow human beings – we just need the will and desire to do so.

    5. Ultimately we all want to live peaceful lives of contribution and making a difference to others in our own small or big way.

    6. We are here for a short time on the earth and it is up to each one of us to create a lasting legacy for those who will follow us.

    7. Though we may face challenging and at times seemingly impossible odds, we will ultimately prevail and the world will be a better more just and safer place!

My writing and my work is focussed on putting the above beliefs into practice and bringing my message and ideas to many more people.

    Some Final Words

Remember that your life counts – and make it count.

You are unique – there is no one like you on this planet – never has been and never will be.

Do not sell your self short.

Do not sell the world short.

This is your life – love it, live it.

One life, one chance – grab it.

Get the life you love – and live it.

I believe we share the same views. You are just years ahead of me in these beliefs for I am just starting to realize my own worth and that of the world.
Keep on the good work for you are one of my inspirations in my journey to freedom.
    Thanks!

Thanks Nezel for visiting and for your kind words.

We are all at different stages of growth – and of course the journey is more important than the destination.

I promise to keep up the good work:-)

Hi Arvind! I’m hoping you can advise me :) One of my dreams is to purchase vacant lots and abandoned buildings in my neighborhood and add playgrounds, community centers, and charter schools to my neighborhood. If I could start a non-profit organziation with grant money and private investments I coudl significantly make my town better, and I would not hesitate to market the changes through social media. I want the revitalization of my town to be an example for the whole country (US), to inspire hope for other private citizens living in cities that need improvements. I think this will be easier for me to do because I live in a geographically small, self-governing borough within a larger city (Pittsburgh), and I think there is less barriers in terms of communication and political bureaucracy with all the benefits of a larger-sized media market. I am interested to know your advice on undertaking such a journey, like you particpated in with starting your school. Thanks in advance for your advice, or directions to any existing posts from the archives that could help me. Best wishes!
